We systematically screened the genome-wide SNPs of the F2 mapping population and constructed the first ultra-density SNP genetic linkage map for sesame using next-generation sequencing technique. 9.85 Gb raw data of the two parents and 424.87Gb of F2 individuals were generated. The ultra-density SNP genetic map is comprised of more than 30k SNP markers grouped into thousands of bins. A total of 13 linkage groups were in accordance with the 13 chromosomes in sesame karyotype. The average marker density in this map was approximately one bin per 0.98 cM and one SNP per 0.1cM, respectively.
